The employee of the future will have a choice of Hybrid, WFH and Work from Anywhere. They will also enjoy better & more opportunities for LFA (Learning from Anywhere).
It is expected that employees will have a much shorter career cycle of 3-5 years for the younger generation. We are likely to see more diversity (in all its avatars) in the workplace. A more multi-generational workforce, with longer working lives (this is somewhat debatable).
The future-ready employee will need to continuously unlearn and relearn in a skills-based economy. The in-demand Portfolio skillset will include a stronger set of deep Meta Skills (Transferable skills) to stay relevant in the job market.
Employees will be just people, who volunteer their services to a Company for some years and then move on. Employees will prefer companies, that have more focus on a clean environment and sustainability. We are already seeing this as an emerging trend, as the intensity of the pandemic is fading.
The younger generation will look for meaning and purpose in their jobs. For others, a job may just mean an ‘income stream’. With rapidly evolving technology & skills, and a greater need for multi-tasking, stress and mental health issues will increase.
On the other hand, is the possibility that will other factors like WFA, Flexi hours, etc. lower stress levels? Will the ‘Anywhere Employee’ of the future enjoy a better work-life balance?
The jury is still out on this one!
