There’s been a lot of hype in recent studies about AI, VR and Robotics replacing recruiters & hiring managers.
Interviewers are human. It’s no wonder, that they have a positive bias toward people, who are like-minded. Unconscious biases like good communication, first impressions, socio-economic status, age, personality etc., can be reduced, but not totally eliminated. Most interviewers make up their minds in the first few minutes, and spend the rest of the time, confirming their decision.
It is expected that technologies, like the chatbot, will deliver better results and be a game-changer in Recruitment. Undoubtedly, the Human aspect will remain, but it may get relegated to the final interview.
The full-blown effects of these trends may be seen only in waves, peaking around 2030 or so. Meanwhile, Technology itself will need to be enhanced for better prediction, and use for Skills Testing, simulated on-the-job testing etc.
It’s early to say whether the integration of AI with Recruitment will deliver better, fairer and more democratic results in Talent Acquisition.
