Extraordinary Achievers approach their work extraordinarily

Do high achievers at the workplace approach their days and their work differently than most people?

How do they become more efficient and productive?

(Views expressed in HBR recently)..

➡️24 hours just don’t seem enough and all the productivity tips in the world aren’t going to change that.

➡️Four simple but effective tips to maximize limited time. (They sound almost simplistic, until you try them)

✅Batching meetings –  helps to clear some undisturbed time for
tasks that need deep focus. (Have witnessed many top leaders keeping the first hour free)

✅It’s difficult to get into flow, if there are interruptions every hour.

✅A computer is an essential  appendage to all work. That’s today’s reality.

✅Learning and using some keyboard shortcuts, using Grammarly and other tools, can reduce time and reliance on the computer mouse. (This takes a little effort, but yields huge results).

✅Designing work environment to eliminate self-destructive habits e.g. leaving phone in another room, at least for part of the day, pausing notifications, if email is derailing you etc. also helps to be more productive.

✅This is self-evident, but the most difficult  for many of us, even in the pandemic-triggered  Work from Home and Hybrid Working models.

✅Read your work aloud. Most corporate jobs require some writing of emails, reports etc. Just listening to the words that you put down on paper speeds up and helps to clarify the writing process (I am a great fan of this one, and it’s helped to write far more impactful emails.)
