How to get yourself next promotion?

Everyone aspires for career  growth and increase in salary.

But only a few are ready to do what it takes, intentionally and consistently to get there.

Here are 7  time-tested tips:

1. Exhibit a strong, positive can-do attitude.

There are two types of employees. Those that are physically present from 9 am to 5 pm and those who are invested in their contribution to the success of the team and the organisation.

The latter are also invested in their own learning and career development. They own their career and take responsibility for it. They take initiative to use formal and informal opportunities to build on their skill and stay one step ahead of their job description.

2.Be an influencer, in whatever role you are placed. Make your voice heard, express your views politely but firmly.

Stand up for your values and uphold fairness, equity and justice. Your character will always be the differentiator and help you too stand out of the crowd.

3. Walk the extra mile, exceed expectations on delivery time and quality, conistently Deliver higher than expected results, earlier than expected.

4. Use your strengths to challenge the status quo. Innovate, Create, Problem Solve. Think differently and divergently to solve problems

Explore different options and solutions to the to the challenges the company is facing.

5.Seek to Give rather than take.  Adam Grant the Psychologist in his famous book :Give and Take’, quotes ample research to bolster his argument that Givers may make a slower start in the beginning. Matchers may move up the ladder faster. But ultimately it’s the Givers that outpace the matchers and reach greater heights of success.

5.  Leverage your inter-personal skills to build meaningful and collaborative relationships.

7. Be a good team player. Put the team’s priorities above your own. Handhold wnd mentor the low performers, lend a helping hand to laggards, Volunteer help to those who need it.

Engage with other teams and broaden your horizons, knowledge and skills.

Undoubtedly, there are other factors at play – the flip side of the story.

But nothing beats the above sure-fire formula to win that much-coveted prize – your next Promotion.
