What to do when you have no Experience on your #resume ?
This is problem many fresh graduates and new entrants face – especially in today’s competitive #job market.
Lack of experience adds to the normal anxiety attached to any interview.
Some tips to keep in mind.
1. Do a deep dive excavation of all #skills you may have picked up.
These could be during your academic journey, co-curricular, activities, volunteering, paid or even unpaid internships and community involvement.
2. Include these in a well crafted cover letter which showcases your side of the story, your personality traits & transferable skills.
3. Use the waiting period as an opportunity. Build on your areas of interest, join some free courses.
4. Use the time to build your social presence. Start establishing your personal brand on #linkedin . Expand your social media networks.
5. Patience is key, as you continue you job search. You never know when the right opportunity might come knocking.
6. Develop skills in demand viz. digital skills or others relevant to the companies and roles you are targeting. These will strengthen your Resume.
7. Take up freelance assignments while you wait for the job which is a good fit for you. This may also be a source of income in the interim and will improve your mindset.
8.Invest in your mental wellness through meditation & mindfulness practices, yoga or an exercise regime. This will keep you busy and engaged and stave off anxiety and depression.
9. Celebrate every victory e. g. an interview call, or making it to the final round.
10. Reach out to recruiters and hiring managers.
10. Be mentally prepared for rejection and don’t take it personally. Remember, ‘No is not Personal; nor is it Final.’
So stay motivated as you stay the course.
