Top skills employers are looking for in 2022

Top 5 Traits #employers  are looking for in 2022.

#recruitment  is becoming increasingly automated.

But employers aren’t just looking for the perfect #resume and hard skills. They’re looking for the Person behind the Page.

Personality Traits & People Skills are the Hard Skills of today.

They are not likely to be Expressed on Paper. They have to be Assessed in Person.

It’s not enough to prove that you’ll be good at the job, you’ve got to prove you’re a good person too.

Some of the Top Skills employees are looking for today are:

1. Learning Mindset:
A constant Learner will always exceed someone who is only an expert today.

They may not have all the answers, but are willing to do what it takes to find them.

A learning mindset also predisposes a person to take feedback positively, adapt, change
and grow.

2. Self-awareness:
The ability to look at oneself objectively. Acceptance of one’s strengths & weaknesses as well as how these affect your work & those around you.

This makes you better employee as well as a better colleague.

3. Energy & Enthusiasm:
Employers want Candidates who bring energy to the workplace, not drain it.

Those who wake up every morning with an enthusiasm to make it their best day at work.

Such people will always have the right attitude & look deeper to find solutions.

4. Communication Skills:
Research shows that 95.9% of employers find communication skills critical, but they believe only 41.6% have effective communication skills.

Digital technology and lack of face to face interaction has resulted in decline of oral communication & conversation ability.

In most careers, written communication is equally important.

Organising thoughts in a cohesive & structured manner and expressing them with clarity is vital.

Often the problem is lack of confidence in one’s own writing ability, even at senior levels.

I have personally witnessed this in my coaching practice over the last couple of years.

Good communication makes  one not only a better employee, but a better leader as well.

5. Teamwork & Collaboration:
In today’s workplace environment, teamwork is necessary for all jobs across the spectrum. It’s a vital part of keeping the company running smoothly for growth & success.

Everyone brings a different skill set to the table. Good team working makes you stand out in the crowd.

No one works in silos today. Collaboration can improve productivity as well as promote unity & synergy.

The above 3 traits are some of the important ones on which interviewers assess candidates.

Needless to say, apart from these, the ‘niceness factor’ of trust, confidence and likeability created by the ‘First Impression’ is a deal clincher.
