Leaders without titles!
Leadership does not necessarily come with a title or designation.
It’s about a set of values, belief systems that lead to consistent actions that benefit others. It’s about impact, inspiration and influence.
Many Managers and ‘Bosses’ may be leaders in this sense.
On the other hand, during my 4 decides in the corporate space, I have seen scores of people display leadership qualities, without any ‘formal authority’.
The importance of building good leadership skills for career growth cannot be over estimated. and it’s never too early to start.
The ‘hybrid’ working of the post-pandemic world has only pivoted the need for leadership skills at every level.
Some of the common characteristics of these ‘Leaders without Titles’ are.
1. Trust: is the currency and bedrock of all relationships. People rally round those they trust. Besides, they themselves become trust-worthy as a result.
2. Authentic interest in the welfare of others. Leaders are invested in the success of others and are willing to walk the extra mile to reach out.
3. The actions they role model, become an inspiration to others and create a ripple effect.
4. They are willing to be vulnerable and take accountability for mistakes, even if not ‘found out.’
5. Giving credit and praise, especially in public, is a big part of such leaders.
6. They build valuable networks. They may not be the most knowledgeable or have all the answers. But they facilitate connections to access solutions.
The above is certainly not a comprehensive list.
