6 Ps to accept Feedback – the Right Way!
Like many others, I often find it difficult to accept feedback (particularly if it’s critical).
I recently came across an article in the media suggesting some practical steps, which I found useful.
The 6 P’s of Receiving Feedback
➡️ Poise – Hold an attitude of neutrality & grace in the moment of receiving the feedback. There’s no need to act it yet.
➡️ Process – take time to process the feedback objectively
➡️ Positionality – the intentions & motives of the initiator. Does it emanate from a place of trust?
➡️ Percolate- check if it aligns with your own values, discuss with people including the feedback provider.
➡️ Proceed to implement – slow is better than fast. Receiving feedback is a important skill and requires practice to form the habit.
➡️ Perspectives – do a fact check with trusted persons on the changes perceived.
The framework can be useful for verbal, written or even feedback received on social media
So, how do you process feedback profitably?
