Praise at a Job Interview

Moderate Praise at a Job Interview!

Outright flattery may put the Interviewer off, but genuine and measured praise could work in your favour.

Everyone enjoys and appreciates a well meant compliment.

Appreciating a marketing campaign, or a social initiative of the Company etc.

Tailor the compliment to the interviewer and the role you are applying for.  eg I have noticed that you have had a long career with the Company. You seem to enjoy your role.

Doing thorough research of the Company and Interviewer will help you to be more spontaneous and stand out.

Focus on professional rather than personal aspects.

Be genuine and specific. Keep it short and sweet. On any account don’t overdo it.

Integrate the compliments into the natural flow of the conversation.

If the interviewer is not receptive stick to smiling and mirroring body language to create engagement and bonding.

Compliments help  to make you more likeable and the interview will seem more like a conversation rather than an interrogation.

Keeping a Balance and being appropriate are critical.

Prepare to compliment the interviewer!
