The pandemic has created an unemployment pandemic of sorts – in India as well as globally.

35 million white collar workers are still jobless, as of February 2023 in India.

Today’s Job Search is Less about Searching, and More about Being Found.

Chances do not Approach You;
You Approach the Chances!

The Job Market is fiercely competitive. It’s like a Jungle
The deer is aiming to run faster than the fastest lion. On the other hand, the lion’s objective is run foster than the slowest deer.

The job market is over-crowded – with a rising talent pool and  shrinking job opportunities.

In this scenario, Clarity of direction is crucial.

Else it’s like the story of Alice in Wonderland. When she reaches a fork in the road, she asks the Cheshire Cat. Can you tell me please which way I should go? .

The cat replies: that depends on WHERE you want to gi.

Alice’s anwer: Actually, it hardly matters WHERE!

The wise reply from the cat:
then it  hardly matters WHICH WAY you go!

So, The key is to Target Companies – not Jobs.

How do you get to a list of Target Companies?

Make 3 lists, each narrower than the first to sharpen your focus.

1. Laundry list  of 20/25 companies you’re interested in. Research them for red flags – bankruptcies or scams. This is just a process of elimination.

2. Shorten the List of companies to 12-15 companies, after eliminating the red flags

Research this shorter list thoroughly.
– Financial  analysis
– Market Research
– Credit Rating analysis
– Industry Research.

3. Further narrow down  the second list to 10-12 companies, (List 3) that could be your Target Companies. This is  where your meat lies.

Study the culture of the companies in List 3, to ensure it aligns with Your own Values.

After all, you’re not just looking to GET the job; you also want to SUCCEED in it and be fulfilled.

Look for companies with a long runway – so that you can sustain your job for a longer period.

Your final task is to Rank the companies in your Target List No. 3.

Prioritise your interventions with each Company, based in how you have ranked it in the Target List.

Remember you are never looking to get the BEST JOB.
You’re looking for the job which is the BEST FIT for you.
