How to decide on a Target List of Companies to follow when looking for a Job?
In today’s highly crowded & competitive market, the key is to Target Companies, not Jobs, to get the best results.
The plethora of choices of career options available, can seem overwhelming for the job seekers.
Deciding on which career to choose itself can cause a certain amount of stress and anxiety, especially for freshers.
The right place to start is the first pillar of Design Thinking viz. Discovery.
Deep reflection & self-discovery.
Am in-depth understanding of your own;
– skills (technical, people & Transferable skills,
– Talents & Interests
– #experience (including Internships & Volunteering
– Education (important – but to a lesser extent today)
– Knowledge & openness to learning
– Attitudes (critical today). In fact, it’s said companies Select for Attitude & Train for Skills.
There’s no one Right answer for a career choice.
But it pays to follow one’s passion, intuition and gut feel.
After all, one is not chasing success alone. One also wants to find joy and meaning in what one’s doing for the greater part of one’s life.
Moreover the Future of Jobs suggests that the first career choice may not be the last, with the fluidity in the job market.
So career choices are reversible. Seen this way, can relieve some of the pressure that job aspirants face.
