ChatGPT – death of Human Brain?

ChatGPT  – death Of Human Brain?

Hat’s off to Altan Backs, creator of ChatGPT!!

(Source Time of India: Economic Times Conversation Series)

Kudos to Altan Backs, for his openness & clarity in speaking at recent  interview in India, outlining:

– Hidden risks of open.ai, openly

– Extreme results, if taken too far

– Need for government intervention

Some excerpts from the interview:

1.  Didn’t give ‘future us all bright’ answer to whether AI will DESTROY JOBS..

–    To some extent jobs will be destroyed.
But will also create new & better jobs. As labour markets adapt to disruptions.

–   A significant ‘But’ in this case will be, speed at which change takes place.

–  Will require change in government’s thinking on socio- economic contract.

2.  Altman was all for ‘SOVEREIGN RESEARCH’ on AI.

–  Agreed that many Governments/countries will feel queasy about Life-defining technology owned by one or few foreign companies.

–  India is better placed.Where government funded AI project can produce results.

3.  REGULATION:  Unequivocal in welcoming it. Governments cannot but intervene. Since “we’re in an exponential curve”.

–   Accepted that deep fakes & fraud were real dangers.

–   Confident that tech will evolve to meet these challenges.

–   There will be easily accessible solutions to establish authenticity.

3.  LONG TERM IMPLICATIONS:

–   AI may not mean ‘end of world’.

–   But, most people not aren’t appreciating scale & speed of #change .

–   ChatGPT4  doesn’t pose existential risk.

–  ChatGPT10 may be completely different.

–   Enormous & rapid formation means those working on AI MUST BUDGET for even smallest possibility – the famous 1% extinction risk’ – for end-of-the-world like scenario & must develop mitigating tech.

The is the truth from the creator’s mouth.
