➡️ Show Appreciation: It’s a way to express gratitude for the opportunity & leaves a positive impression on the interviewer.
➡️ Reiterate your interest: A well crafted follow-up message allows you to reaffirm your enthusiasm for the role & the Company.
➡️ Clarify & Elaborate: It’s an opportunity fill in any gaps – information you may have forgotten to mention or clarification to any questions.
➡️ Reiterate Fit: A concise reminder of why you are agood culture fit.
➡️ Stay Memorable: In a competitive job market, hiring decisions take time. A follow-up keeps you on the radar.
➡️ Professionalism: showcases your professionalism, attention to detail, communication skills.
✅ Some guidelines
♀️ Timeliness: Send the thank-you note preferably within 24 hours. This is a very brief note.
♀️Clearly mention the position and date of interview in the subject.
♀️Personalise your message to each interviewer, referencing specific aspects mentioned by the person.
♀️Find a way to get the contact details of all the interviewers, not just the HR person.
♀️ If you haven’t received a response, it’s reasonable to send a polite 2nd follow-up after about 2-3 weeks, including some of points of clarification mentioned above.
♀️Wait for Response: typically another 2- 3 weeks.
♀️ Final Follow-up: After a reasonable waiting period, send a very brief final message to express:
– thanks
– your continued interest
– polite request for feedback on the interview process – you may be surprised to receive a useful reply.
You would have used your rejection as a learning opportunity
♀️ Always keep the door open for some future interaction.
